One thing that I have said from the beginning: I want to restore all of the interior doors—stripped and then waxed and sealed to bring them back to their original glory. I had already chosen beautiful new hardware on Pinterest that matched the period of the house. The following week, Josh and I were doing some work in the house and I looked down and saw this beautiful accent:
Then I looked at the other doors downstairs….
Can you say amazing?? How could I have spent two months in this house and not noticed these wonderful knobs? We brought some of the door hardware home to see what it really looked like cleaned.
First, I ran water over the hardware, then sprinkled Bar Keepers Friend on them and worked it into a paste.
Since I knew it had been many years since the last polishing, I laid each piece on a towel and let the paste do it’s magic for about 15 minutes.
Next, I took damp scrubbing sponge and rubbed the hardware, to get in all the grooves. Then, I just rinsed it off and let it dry.
The results: STUNNING!
